For centuries, people’s imagination was seized by the
meeting of gametes – egg and sperm, whose union gave birth to a new individual.
In the early stages of the project, the sperm binds to proteins in the egg
extracellular coat, called the zona pellucida . But the molecular details of
this fundamental biological event has so far remained obscure. But its always a
mystery and an awesome act of God that He alone can make happen...And always
always a beautiful precious thing.
